“Out beyond the comm relays and nav beacons, law gets thin — and that’s where we thrive. The Umbral Tide is a loose collective of drifters, smugglers, ex-mil, and opportunists riding the shadows of the ‘verse. No ranks. No lectures. Just credits, freedom, and the firepower to keep ‘em both.”
The origins of The Umbral Tide trace back to a failed corporate reclamation effort in the uncharted sectors beyond Pyro. A handful of contracted crews — salvage, security, logistics — were left behind when the operation collapsed under pirate pressure and corporate abandonment. With no official support and no way home, those survivors had a choice: die waiting for a rescue that would never come, or adapt.
They chose the latter.
In the chaos that followed, those crews became something else. No longer bound by corporate doctrine or UEE red tape, they banded together under a new name whispered through encrypted comms: The Umbral Tide. A reference to how they moved — unseen, unpredictable, and always returning when least expected.
Over time, others joined: drifters, ex-Naval pilots with dishonorable discharges, smugglers burned by bad contracts, even a few ex-pirates who preferred freedom over chaos. The Tide became less of an organization and more of a current — drawing in those who didn’t fit cleanly into the Empire’s order.
Today, The Umbral Tide operates in the grey zones of the ‘verse. Sometimes they take legal work. Sometimes they don’t. But they always look after their own — and they never forget what the ‘verse did to those who waited.
We are not soldiers. We are not pirates. We are not beholden.
We are the ones who move where the light doesn’t reach — between trade lanes, under the scanners, around the laws that serve the few.
The verse is broken. Corps own the stars. The UEE sells security in exchange for obedience. The rest of us? We make our own way.
The Umbral Tide isn’t a government. We don’t care about your résumé, your rank, or your reputation. We care about what you can do — and how far you’re willing to go to get it done.
We take the jobs no one talks about. We hit back when hit first. We fly together, or not at all.
Loyalty is earned. Freedom is sacred. Survival is mandatory.
This is the Tide. You can ride it, or you can drown.
1. Purpose
The Umbral Tide exists to provide shelter, opportunity, and freedom for those who operate on the edges of UEE space. We are a collective of free agents, pilots, and operatives who value autonomy, loyalty, and capability above titles and regulations.
2. Membership
All members are equal in voice; leadership is earned through trust and contribution, not rank.
New members must be vouched for by at least one active Tide pilot.
There are no mandatory activity quotas — but you fly with us, you fly with purpose.
3. Conduct
Respect the Tide: Internal sabotage, betrayal, or malicious behavior toward fellow members is grounds for exile or retaliation.
Respect the Crew: We don’t care about your past, but we care how you treat the people watching your six.
No Drama in the Hangar: Keep personal beefs out of operations. Settle disputes with words, or settle them in the sim pod.
4. Operations
Members are free to take personal contracts, run side ops, or operate independently.
Group ops (raids, escorts, smuggling runs, etc.) are voluntary, but coordination is expected once committed.
We take jobs from whoever pays — unless they’ve burned us before, or they target one of our own.
5. Alignment
We are not enemies of the UEE — but we are not bound by its laws.
Piracy is permitted, but senseless cruelty is not our trade. We’re predators, not butchers.
Help those who help you. Look after those who ride the Tide with you.
6. Final Word
This is a dangerous ‘verse. Nobody’s watching your back unless you make it worth their while. The Umbral Tide doesn’t promise safety — it promises a crew that won’t leave you behind without damn good reason.
