Our History: The Story of the Crew
The org known as Tired Dad Gamers wasn’t forged in the fire of some grand battle or conceived in a corporate boardroom. It started quietly, in the scattered, late-night hours of the Stanton system, fueled by lukewarm coffee and the shared understanding that a sudden “AFK” could mean anything from a crying baby to a work email that just couldn’t wait.
Our founding members were a handful of pilots who, like many, had tried to find their place in the ‘verse. They joined various orgs, flew with different crews, and always ran into the same wall: the expectation that the game would be their top priority. They were tired. Not just from long days at work or early mornings with the kids, but tired of the pressure to be ‘always on’ in a world they escaped to for fun.
One night, after a mission fell apart because three different members had to suddenly drop for family duties, the idea was born. They didn’t need a hardcore PMC or a ruthless syndicate; they needed a support group that also happened to fly spaceships. They needed a name that was honest, direct, and left no room for doubt about who they were and what their priorities were.
And so, Tired Dad Gamers was founded. The name wasn’t a joke; it was a banner for anyone who fit the description, a straightforward declaration of their identity.
What began as a simple pact between a few pilots grew organically. Word spread through system chat, on forums, and in quiet conversations at space stations. Other pilots, who thought their days of organized group play were over, found a home with us. They were veterans, greenhorns, industrial tycoons, and rough-and-tumble bounty hunters, all united by the simple fact that their real-world responsibilities came first.
Today, [TIREDDADS] is more than just a tag. It’s a banner for a thriving community of mature, like-minded individuals who know that the greatest adventures are the ones you can still enjoy without sacrificing your life outside the game. Our history is still being written—one cargo run, one dogfight, and one hastily-interrupted gaming session at a time. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Tired Dad Gamers Manifesto
Gaming is not our job. It’s not our primary responsibility. For us, it’s the escape—the precious few hours we carve out after the kids are asleep, the deadlines are met, and the real world is finally quiet. In a gaming landscape that often demands more time and energy than we have to give, we choose a different path.
This is what we stand for.
1. Real Life is Non-Negotiable.
We hold this truth to be self-evident: your life outside the game comes first. Always. No exceptions. A child’s nightmare, a sick pet, a work emergency, or just the need for sleep—these are not interruptions to be excused. They are life. We will never ask you to prioritize a virtual objective over a real-world responsibility.
2. Patience is Our Greatest Virtue.
Our reflexes may have been nerfed by age and sleep deprivation, but our patience is legendary. We don’t rage-quit. We don’t yell at new players. We understand that missions go sideways, controls are confusing, and sometimes you just completely forget how to get out of your own ship’s seat. It’s okay. We’ll wait.
3. We Value People Over Pixels.
Your kill/death ratio is irrelevant here. Your profit-per-hour doesn’t matter. We measure the success of a gaming session by the quality of the company, the shared laughter over comms, and the sense of camaraderie. We are a community first and a gaming organization second.
4. Maturity is Mandatory.
We are adults. We act like it. We have zero tolerance for toxicity, elitism, racism, bigotry, or drama. We are here to build each other up and provide a safe, respectful haven from the noise of the internet and the stresses of daily life.
5. Fun is the Only Grind.
There are no mandatory operations. There are no attendance sheets. There are no performance reviews. This is not a second job. Your only obligation is to relax, de-stress, and have fun. Whether that means joining a coordinated group activity or just flying solo in a party channel for some quiet company, the choice is always yours.
We don’t promise galactic domination or elite status. We promise something far more valuable: a place where you can log in, take a deep breath, and remember why you fell in love with gaming in the first place.
If this is what you’ve been looking for, then welcome home.
