SUNDER MILITARY GROUP (SMG) BACKSTORY

Founding and Inspiration

Sunder Military Group (SMG) was founded in 2947 by battle-hardened survivors of the Battle of Vega II—a decorated collective of United Empire of Earth (UEE) Navy veterans. The catalyst for SMG’s creation was the harrowing Battle of Vega II on October 5, 2945, where these survivors served aboard various vessels in the UEE’s 2nd Fleet during one of the most brutal Vanduul assaults in recent history. Witnessing the devastation and the valiant, yet often outnumbered, defense efforts alongside scattered comrades from ships like the Bengal-class carrier UEES Krugeri and escort carrier UEES Argus, they became acutely aware of the need for a dedicated, well-coordinated private military force to assist the UEE and protect civilian sectors from similar threats.

Formation of SMG

Determined to address these gaps, the survivors retired from the UEE Navy and utilized their reputation, connections, and shared resolve to establish Sunder Military Group. The name “Sunder” signifies division, splitting, and separation—honoring those who fell from the mighty and serving as a warning to the enemy: a splinter in the right place can be debilitating. SMG was built on the principles of honor, loyalty, and friendship, drawing heavily from the survivors’ military experience and their vision for a more secure galaxy.

SMG quickly distinguished itself by recruiting elite personnel from various branches of the UEE military, as well as skilled mercenaries and strategists from across the ‘verse. The group’s rigorous training programs, advanced technology, and strategic flexibility allowed it to undertake a wide range of missions—from high-risk extractions and escort missions to offensive strikes against Vanduul clans, pirate bases, outlaw groups, and all those that feed on the innocent trying to make a life in the ‘verse.

SUNDER, the remaining crew from shattered vessels of the UEE’s 2nd Fleet, emerged from the crucible of combat. Their years of experience and unwavering unity have forged their identity.

Let me recount their story:

On October 5, 2945, a small band of brothers and sisters—along with other scattered survivors from across the UEE fleet—faced their ultimate test. Serving aboard various vessels in the UEE’s 2nd Fleet, including the Bengal-class carrier UEES Krugeri, the escort carrier UEES Argus, and Idris-class frigates in the screening element, they were thrust into chaos during the surprise Vanduul incursion deeper into UEE territory. Tasked with defending the Vega system and eliminating the Vanduul Kingship and its command structure, they battled fiercely amid the orbital carnage as the invaders glassed cities on Vega II (Aremis) below. The Battle of Vega II became one of the most devastating engagements of the Vanduul War—a desperate, outnumbered fight that claimed millions of civilian lives in the planet’s bombardment before the UEE forces finally destroyed the enemy Kingship and drove the survivors out. Ships across the fleet held the line against overwhelming odds, witnessing the destruction of allied vessels and the horror unfolding on the surface. When the dust settled, the survivors—battle-hardened and resolute—banded together to form SUNDER, a small strike private military group dedicated to swift, targeted operations against threats the UEE couldn’t always reach.

1. Requirements

1.1 Recruits

A Recruit is an individual eager to join the ranks of Sunder. Those who demonstrate active engagement may request full membership after a minimum of 15 days, extending to no longer than 30 days (approximately one month).

The criteria to attain Recruit status are as follows:

  • 1.1.1 Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 1.1.2 Exclusive Affiliation: Recruits must not hold membership in any other online gaming community that competes in the same virtual arenas as Sunder.
  • 1.1.3 Leadership Exclusivity: Holding an officer position in another gaming community is prohibited for those seeking to join Sunder.
  • 1.1.4 Engagement & Microphone Requirement: Recruits must engage through voice interactions and are expected to have a functional microphone to ensure active participation and collaboration within the Sunder community.
