The history of Stanton Security Services (SSS) is the history of survival in a lawless system.
When the UEE sold the four worlds of Stanton to the megacorporations, the Navy all but withdrew. What little presence remained was ceremonial – enough to show a flag, not enough to stop a pirate. With profits outweighing protection, Hurston Dynamics, ArcCorp, Crusader Industries, and microTech focused on their assets, leaving the lanes between worlds open to ambush.
For traders, settlers, and freelancers, it was a golden age for pirates – and a nightmare for everyone else. Convoys vanished, outposts were raided, and families disappeared into slavery or worse. The Corps would defend their own stations, but beyond those walls, citizens were on their own.
It was in that gap that SSS was born.
The organization began humbly: a loose band of disgruntled veterans, discharged naval pilots, and independent haulers sick of watching friends vanish into jump-point ambushes. Armed with battered RSI Connies, Anvil Hornets, and Cutlasses seized from pirates, they flew not for pay, but for vengeance – and survival. Word spread quickly across Stanton’s comms: if you wanted a fighting chance, you traveled with them.
The turning point came in 2921, when a coalition of pirate crews ambushed a medical convoy bound for microTech. Half the escorts were destroyed, and the survivors limped to Port Tressler. Among the wreckage was the revelation that the Corps had known the risk and done nothing. Outrage followed – and with it, support for the independents who did respond. Those independents reorganized under a single banner: Stanton Security Services.
From there, SSS grew rapidly. Drawing on UEE doctrines but adapting them to Stanton’s realities, they rejected capital-class warships in favor of many mid-weight hulls and swarming fighter wings. The RSI Perseus, Anvil Hammerhead, and Constellation line became their pillars, supported by nimble Hornets, Scorpius interceptors, and later F8 Lightnings.
This doctrine made them unpredictable, resilient, and hard to pin down. Where pirates expected lumbering patrol craft, they instead faced fast-moving, heavily-armed flotillas. Losses came, but SSS rebuilt quickly – every pilot knowing that no fleet could be crippled by a single kill.
No history is without scars. The late 2940s saw SSS nearly collapse. Coordinated pirate cartels, funded by outlaw syndicates from Pyro, bled Stanton trade routes dry. For months, convoys went dark. SSS wings fought running battles at every jump point – sometimes winning, often losing. Ships were lost, bases burned, and leaders killed. But in the crucible of the Black Years, SSS hardened. The corps fractured, restructured, and emerged with a stronger command hierarchy and stricter training regimens. Out of desperation came discipline.
Today, Stanton Security Services stands as one of the system’s most reliable private defense networks. Traders hire them not only for their guns, but for their reputation. Pirates know the sight of their shields and insignias, and know that what lies behind them will not fall easily.
They are no navy. They have no senators, no capitals, no fleets of battleships.
What they have is grit, loyalty, and numbers.
Their motto echoes across Stanton’s lanes:
> “The shield holds.”
And for as long as Stanton Security Services endures, it will.
We are Stanton Security Services, forged in the void and bound by duty.
Our mandate is clear: to shield the Stanton system from chaos, safeguard its commerce, and ensure that every citizen and hauler may travel without fear.
We do not wait for threats to strike – we hunt them.
Pirates, raiders, and lawless opportunists will find no refuge in Stanton. Every ambush, every act of sabotage, every crime against our people is answered with swift and overwhelming reprisal.
We reject reliance on rare titans of war. Instead, we follow a doctrine of distributed strength: fleets of versatile warships, disciplined squadrons, and determined ground forces. Where a single dreadnought falters, our shield wall holds firm across the system.
Our organization stands upon three pillars:
To our allies, we are a watchful guardian. To our enemies, we are relentless hunters. To our members, we are a family — united in purpose and strengthened by loyalty.
We are not a militia. We are not mercenaries.
We are Stanton Security Services.
And we do not falter.
We, the members of Stanton Security Services (SSS), in recognition of the lawless void and the absence of reliable protection in the Stanton system, establish this Charter. It is our shield, our oath, and our doctrine. Where megacorporations guard only their own profits, and the UEE’s reach falters, SSS stands as the wall between chaos and order.
The purpose of Stanton Security Services is:
1. To defend the free movement of people and goods within Stanton and beyond.
2. To combat piracy, lawlessness, and threats to civilian stability.
3. To provide organized protection for convoys, settlements, and independent citizens.
4. To operate with discipline, professionalism, and the values of loyalty and honor.
SSS is organized into a clear chain of command, supported by specialized divisions:
Ranks exist to uphold order, define responsibility, and recognize merit.
All members of SSS are bound to:
1. Defend the honor of the Service and the safety of Stanton.
2. Place the mission above self-interest.
3. Show respect to allies, discipline to command, and mercy only where it strengthens order.
4. Reject piracy, profiteering at the expense of civilians, and betrayal of comrades.
1. SSS recognizes the sovereignty of the UEE and corporate law within Stanton, but reserves the right to act independently when those powers fail to protect civilians.
2. Contracts with traders, settlers, or corporations may be entered freely, provided they do not compromise the security or integrity of SSS.
3. All major actions require approval from command ranks, but divisions retain autonomy in the field when conditions demand rapid response.
Upon joining Stanton Security Services, every member swears:
> *“I am the shield. I do not falter.
> I stand where others fall.
> For Stanton, for my comrades, for order -
> The shield holds.”*
This Charter was ratified by the founding commanders of Stanton Security Services and remains in force until amended by Supreme Command.
