Justice doesn’t stop at the Jump Point.

History

Through time immemorial, there have been individuals, brave heroes of justice and righteousness, who have stood up against violence and oppression. Men and women who have, through their acts of selflessness and bravery, wrestled justice from the claws of evil. However, alongside humanity’s advent to the stars came an immediate and overwhelming increase in crime. As humanity began to truly explore the vast opportunities of space, many discovered that same vastness could also offer much to those who would engage in illicit activities. Anonymity, safety from discovery, and many more reasons for the scum to be successful. Evil organized, and crime became an easy way to find fame and fortune. But just as villainy exists in the hearts of man, so does righteousness. Righteousness and a sense of justice. As the UPE, and later the UEE under the Messer’s, continuously proved more occupied with gaining territory and starting wars with no regard for the safety and prosperity of the people, many lion-hearted citizens began to take it upon themselves to bring order and justice to their small corners of the galaxy.

Following the discovery of the Pyro system, it quickly became a bed of criminal activity, owing its attraction to the harsh star that protected the system from the claim of eminent domain by the UNE, as the then fledgling star-faring government did not have the resources to terraform such a hostile environment. New residents of this system were hard pressed to perform honest work, work that was required for the upkeep of the new stations, due to the constant threat of piracy. As a result, the system fell into disarray, with stations falling decrepit and dilapidated.

Some 350 years later, following the discovery of the Stanton system and the subsequent sale of the planets and moons to different mega-corporations, many citizens began to notice an increase in piracy and smuggling within the Stanton system. There was even an asteroid base erected that promised to turn a blind eye to individuals within their walls, regardless of origin or standing within society, known as Grim Hex. The cause? A jump point from Stanton to Pyro. The system of outlaw had a direct line to this bustling new system of wealth and opportunity. Now indeed was there cause for concern. This overwhelming presence of outlaws and brigands, drawn by their greed to a system of such prosperity, could not go unaddressed. The UEE, however, did not seem interested in sparing extra effort to the defense of the citizens of Stanton, nor to those who were still trying to eke a living from the Pyro system. It was then that something began to change. Citizens began to band together, forming small escort parties to ensure the safety of transports. They began to patrol cargo hubs and stations. They even went so far as to venture into Pyro to answer distress calls from the other side of the jump gate. Eventually, and inevitably, the citizens of justice slowly gathered together, forming official systems, purchasing property and equipment, and organizing their assets and members into a cohesive force of justice. That force is today known as the Pyro Stanton Police Department, or PSPD. A force of true warriors of justice, whose missions bring them to the aid and defense of the populace. Whose missions bring them to the forefront of the battle against crime and villainy. Whose honor and valor demand the utmost respect and admiration from the populace they serve. And whose skill and fearlessness elicit the most fervent fear and loathing from the scum they face.

Manifesto

We enforce justice, not statutes. In Pyro, there are no laws worth following. We are bound only by duty to protect.

We answer the call. Every distress beacon, every interdiction, every pirate threat. PSPD moves where others hesitate.

We fight for the people. Not corporations, not governments, not the UEE. Only those who need protection.

We are not bound by red tape. Bureaucracy doesn’t save lives. Action does. We do what must be done.

We are feared by pirates. To those who terrorize the lanes, we are the shadow in their scopes, the response they did not expect.

We patrol Stanton, we strike in Pyro. Two systems, one shield. Our reach extends wherever justice is denied.

We answer to no one but our cause. No senate. No council. No oversight. Only the mission.

We are justice beyond law. Where laws fail, PSPD does not.
