IN DETAIL

1. OUR VISION STATEMENT

InterSun Alliance (“INSUN”) encourages a supportive culture where members are expected to be friendly and helpful. We lift one another up and we leave no one behind. We strive to be a tight-knit family that cannot be broken.

We focus on fun and teamwork, rather than solely chasing statistics (whether kills, credits, yields or anything else).

We don’t want to be caught up in the legalities of social networking laws and parental consents. We therefore ask that applicants be at least 18 years old. Rare exceptions may be considered.

We understand that our members are usually very busy in real life (“RL”), whether with study, work or family commitments. We recognize that everyone’s game-time is precious, so when we’re online together we want it to be easy-going and, most of all, fun.

While RL must come first, we do value group interaction. INSUN actively encourages group efforts and we discourage solo play as the standard way of doing things. Of course it’s absolutely fine if folks just need some time alone or want to crunch a personal goal.

Our members decide for themselves whether they have the time to log on and play. We will never demand that a member log on at a particular time. We may ask for support (if possible and subject to RL) at certain times and places for the purposes of INSUN group ops.

INSUN recruits people from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. We are truly multinational and multicultural. We recognize that, first and foremost, we’re all gamers with a shared interest in space sci fi. We ask that all members leave RL politics and religion at the door. Members are expected to be tolerant of different accents, cultures, nationalities and lifestyles. Prejudice, discrimination and antagonism has no place in our org.

INSUN does not fund itself through periodic taxes or fees. We encourage our members to personally grow rich in the game and to then help the org according to their personal ability as and when they choose. We also hold voluntary group ops where members can donate in game time and effort to help generate some income for themselves and for current org projects.

2. OUR INGAME ACTIVITIES

INSUN engages in all ingame activities that don’t attract a crime stat or which may otherwise harm our collective reputation. We seek to experience all that’s possible ingame (excluding griefing, scamming, cheating and unlawful piracy).

INSUN does not prey on the weak or the helpless. We do not hinder those who are taking their first steps into the ‘verse. We therefore allow starter ships, mining ships, salvage ships and haulers free passage without interference (unless they interfere with us). In fact, we will come to the defense of those in need if we see that they are under attack. Our pilots are encouraged to be be bounty hunters and to pursue those with a live crime stat. INSUN walks in peace and carries a big stick for those who earn it.

INSUN does not promote itself as a specialist PvP org, a specialist PvE org or a specialist anything-else org. We value variety and we enjoy mixing things up.

3. OUR FULL-MEMBER BENEFITS

INSUN caters for people with busy real lives. We don’t make demands and we don’t make unrealistic or unattainable promises to members.

INSUN offers many intangible benefits, including:

3. no compulsory log on times or timers
4. a mature and sensible group with which to explore all aspects of this game
5. a place where both PvP and PvE are genuinely valued and enjoyed

We also offer more tangible benefits to our Full Members to help provide a boost when needed. We support our own.

Our Affiliates are primarily considered a network for diplomatic, intelligence and trade purposes. From time to time, Affiliates are invited to join specified group ops.

4. OUR ORG RULES

INSUN tries to keep rules to a minimum. Where we do have rules, they are based on good reasons for the benefit of the group. If rules are not working or if their underlying reason for being changes, then those rules must be reviewed and amended.

5. OUR ORG STRUCTURE

INSUN has activity departments and escalating ranks to help us to stay organized and to better share the admin load. WE ARE NOT RANK OBSESSED. We treat all people with respect and consideration.

We promote a culture based on: RESPECT, COURTESY & REASON.

Ranks are NOT a chain of command to used to beat anyone. If someone is found misusing their rank, they will lose their commission. INSUN is a safe environment.

Honors are awarded through recognition using our Forums and Discord. INSUN ranks are not honors and are held to clearly mark those people who are currently and actively contributing to the ongoing operations of the group.

INSUN has no “founders” who receive special rights because they’ve been around the longest. We do not have inactive leaders. While members can be casual, we require a hardcore commitment from our Directors.

6. CALLS TO ARMS

INSUN does, very rarely, have Calls To Arms (“CTAs”) to defend our members and interests. All members must accept that we need to defend our people and assets against those who attack us.

However, INSUN will never try to make any member log on at any particular time. RL must always come first, without exception. If someone is not online due to to RL, that person is not expected to participate in the CTA.

Members are coached and taught how they can best add value during a CTA.

CTAs are very rare.

7. APPLICANTS

Cultural fit with INSUN is more important than any other aspect. We are more interested in the character of the RL person behind the account rather than what pledge ships or extreme skills someone may have. We want to ensure that INSUN grows by including only those people who are compatible with our culture.

1. OUR OVER-ARCHING PRICIPLE

InterSun Alliance (“INSUN”) exists to provide a fun and friendly org experience for all members. Each member invests their valuable playtime with our org and, in exchange, the org strives to repay that investment by facilitating more fun and progress than could have been achieved solo. Together, we’re greater than the sum of our parts.

We hope for maximum engagement between members when they are online but we understand that real life (“RL”) must take priority over gaming. INSUN does not demand that anyone must log on and play at set times. We do ask that if you log on to play, that you quickly check our Forums and/or Discord to see if there’s a group op or activity that you can join in. We encourage all members to say hello in Discord when you log on, even if you plan to engage in a solo task. We are a community.

2. ORG RULES MUST BE JUSTIFIED

We try to keep rules to a minimum and where they exist, they should exist for a good reason.

INSUN’s rules are primarily for the purpose of ensuring a safe and happy org experience for everyone. We want to encourage a fun and easy going team-focused culture. Further, we seek to foster good relations with people and organizations from all walks of life, and we need some rules to protect those relationships and our org reputation.

No Trash-Talk or Bullying

We welcome good-natured fun, but draw a line before taunting and bullying (whether ingame, on Discord, on org Forums or on Spectrum). We value fun and easy going people who can chill and be good-natured without waving their ego or temper in other people’s face.

No Scamming, Begging or Griefing

We value our org reputation. The actions of any and all members can define our group’s reputation. We therefore don’t permit members to engage in scamming, begging or griefing.

No Unlawful Piracy

INSUN members should not deliberately engage in acts that attract a crime stat. Of course game mechanics are still a little rubbery and a crime stat can sometimes occur by accident. That is nothing to worry about. However, if you want to become a great and terrible space pirate, then we will not be the best fit for you (as a full member).

No Cheating

INSUN does not condone the use of cheat codes or programs, nor the disabling of CIG’s anti-cheat software. Neither do we condone bug exploits, such as deliberate duplication or door glitching.

3. AFFILIATES

We do accept Affiliates. They are primarily considered to be a network for diplomatic, intelligence and trade purposes. From time to time, Affiliates are invited to join specified group ops.

We cannot and do not attempt to police how our Affiliates operate and interact with third parties when not participating in an INSUN group op. We may sometimes join forces with our Affiliates (in joint lawful operations) but they are their own agents and subject to their own main org’s rules on scamming, griefing, piracy and cheating.

Naturally, if any Affiliate harms any other INSUN Affiliate or Full Member then that would need to be addressed. Further, if any Affiliate does somehow tarnish INSUN’s reputation or relationship with a valued ally or partner, then that Affiliate will be at risk of ejection.

Affiliates are not provided with the same level of access or free support that we give to our Full Members.

4. SCOPE OF ACTIVITY

INSUN exists to engage in all ingame activities that are not expected to result in a crime stat.

We want to foster a strong positive relationship with the UEE and related lawful entities (once faction reputations are fully implemented) to better enable our pilots to secure ingame equipment, add-ons and upgrades.

5. RL AGE RESTRICTION

Many countries are now age restricting access to online social networking sites. Some places are even debating restricting access for anyone under 18yo. We are not in a position to routinely verify each applicant’s place of residence, changing laws worldwide or social media parental consents.

Regretfully, we therefore need to ask that applicants be at least 18 years old.

6. NO RL POLITICS OR RELIGION

We all want an escape from the daily pressures and conflicts of RL. INSUN has no RL political or religious agenda and we accept people from all corners of the globe.

INSUN’s Forums, Discord and Spectrum are kept free of RL politics and religion. We ask that members help (and not hinder) one another irrespective of accents, culture or RL beliefs.

We do ask where our members are located in RL but that information is used solely for organizing group ops and resources.
