We, the members of the Flat Space Society, stand united in the belief that space, in its truest and most liberating form, is flat—unwarped, infinite, and undistorted by the gravitational illusions of curvature.

History

The Flat Space Society was founded in quiet rebellion—not against science itself, but against the rigid orthodoxy that had come to dominate cosmological thought. Its roots trace back to the early 23rd century, when a small group of physicists, philosophers, and curious minds began questioning the prevailing interpretation of general relativity and the warping of space-time.

Disillusioned by the complexity and abstraction of modern cosmology, these early thinkers sought a return to elegance and intuition. They drew inspiration from the ancient Greek atomists, the Enlightenment-era rationalists, and even early 20th-century dissenters who challenged Einstein’s theories—not to deny their predictive power, but to explore alternative foundations.

The Society officially formed in 2421, launched by an anonymous manifesto published online titled “The Horizon is Flat”. The document quickly circulated among academic fringe circles, independent researchers, and artists drawn to its radical clarity. A loose global network began to form—forums, online discussions, and meetups emerged under the shared belief that space is not curved, but flat, continuous, and fundamentally linear.

Manifesto

We hold these principles to be self-evident:

Simplicity is Cosmic Truth
Space, uncurved, is the clean slate upon which existence is painted. Complexity and distortion are symptoms of incomplete understanding.

Perception is Sacred
What we observe—straight horizons, linear travel, consistent geometry—is not an illusion, but a fundamental insight into the nature of our universe.

Freedom from Gravity’s Grip
Gravity need not be a well in a fabric, but a force among forces—interpretable, challengeable, and reconcilable without the need for spatial distortion.

Flat Space, Open Minds
Our commitment to a flat spatial model is not dogma, but a declaration of intellectual independence. We seek to re-express the universe without bending to convention.

We call upon physicists, philosophers, artists, and explorers: imagine with us a cosmos that is vast, flat, and full of possibility. Challenge the accepted. Flatten the curve. Expand the mind.

The universe need not bend to be beautiful.
