Born from Tragedy, Strengthened by Community

For over a decade, Crusader Industries has grappled with the intense crime wave that gripped its planet and the surrounding moons following the return of Nine Tails in the Stanton System. Taking root over Yela, the notorious group has ravaged the idyllic platforms of Orison with ruthless efficiency, murdering countless civilians with an unparalleled aggression. The response to the overwhelming violence, however, was slow; corrupt and greed-driven security officials forged their reports to the UEE, thus allowing crime to fester and strengthen until the lies were exposed in 2947. Under the watchful eye of CEO Kelly Caplan, Crusader Industries enacted the “Crusader Cares” directive in 2949 and boosted funding for security and hiring private contractors. Five years later has seen honest data collection and an increased security presence, but little in the way of halting Nine Tails’ advances. In that time, Orison has suffered numerous raids, Grim Hex has become a bastion for crime, and security stations across the jurisdiction have fallen victim to assault. The CDF has not always been available to bolster Crusader Security’s understaffed ranks and private contractors are not always up to the task; despite making some headway, there was growing concern that Crusader Cares was ultimately a failure, particularly after the sabotage of Valkyrie Residential Platform in early 2954. With a civilian death toll well over four thousand, along with the deaths of dozens of first responders who tried to save the falling platform, Nine Tails sent a clear message about their intentions.

Crusader Industries sent one back.

The “Valkyrie Initiative”, named in honor of those lost, sought to boost officer training and recruitment, as well as develop an elite unit tasked with countering Nine Tails and other high-priority criminals. With a focus on intelligence gathering and swift, decisive strikes, the initiative created Valkyrie Division, a special forces unit aimed at preventing casualties on both the proactive and reactive fronts. Headed by an eight year veteran of Crusader Security, Commander Rosalina Kline, the division enjoys a certain degree of freedom and looser oversight in exchange for continued success, allowing it to employ unorthodox methods to achieve their goals.

Using the core values of Crusader Industries as its base, the Initiative strives to forge strong community bonds to develop lasting security solutions. By boosting Crusader Security’s outreach programs and working with the independent mercenary community, the Initiative is able to tackle any challenge quickly and decisively. While only a little over a year old, the Initiative has already proven its value, particularly against the recent threats of the XenoThreat and Headhunters incursions against Stanton.
