Dear Saint Elmo, patron saint of space monkeys,
Amidst the challenges of the stars, be our guide,
Lead us through the darkest nights and roughest systems,
Keep us safe from harm and bring us home.
In your example of endurance, we find courage,
May your intercession strengthen our spirits.
Amen
The origins of the Elmo Pact trace back to a broken era, a time when frontier systems fell silent, piracy ran unchecked, and supply routes through the Outer Veil were considered death sentences. What began as a small crew of desperate haulers and independent bounty hunters evolved into a unified force with one unlikely patron at its core: Saint Erasmus of Formia, known in the void as Saint Elmo, protector of those who travel the deep.
Long before space was ours, Elmo was a bishop in ancient Italy, hunted during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, a time when faith itself was grounds for execution. According to the stories passed from Old Earth, Erasmus suffered brutal torture, resisting with impossible endurance. His body was torn apart, his intestines bound to a windlass, and still he did not betray his belief. It is said that sailors, inspired by his torment and resilience, called on him during storms at sea. His windlass became a symbol of salvation amid chaos.
Centuries later, as humanity reached into the stars, spacefarers found a strange kinship with this obscure figure from Earth’s past. Deep-space captains clinging to life through reactor flares, software meltdowns, and oxygen leaks began to invoke the name “Elmo” in the static of failing comms. He became a patron not only of sailors, but of all who braved the void.
The first seed of the Pact was planted on Station Kalvik 9, a now-derelict outpost in the Mareline Drift. The founders, five ship captains who had lost crew to corrupted nav AIs, smuggling betrayals, and lawless factions, banded together not out of profit but survival. They vowed to build a company with a backbone. Not a syndicate of cowards, not a corporation of clerks, but a creed-bound force: fast, faithful, and fire-forged. And they named it after the one who endured, Elmo.
From the beginning, they treated their work as more than trade. Hauling cargo through radiation storms, capturing fugitives with five systems’ worth of bounty on their heads, enduring rogue AIs and asteroid ambushes, all of it was done under one principle: “Bring it home. Or don’t come back.”
What made the Pact different was not firepower or funding. It was faith. Every recruit learned the Prayer of Saint Elmo, not as ritual, but as a survival mantra. In time, the windlass became the company’s sigil, etched onto hulls, stitched into shoulder seals, painted over cockpits. It reminded every Pact member that no software bug, no warped jumpgate, no pain, mental or physical, would break them if they remembered what they were part of.
The company grew system by system. Not fast, but steady. As the bureaucracies of the Core Worlds failed to maintain justice and supply, the Elmo Pact filled the vacuum. From frozen moons to outlaw ports, from military contracts to mercy runs, their presence became legend.
Today, the Pact is a decentralized, semi-autonomous network of crews, bonded by oath and code, not by hierarchy. Each ship swears fealty not to a CEO, but to the Pact’s legacy. They fly for coin, yes, but they live for the mission, the brotherhood, and the endurance of those who came before.
Our esteemed leaders have summoned a conclave to put into writing the foundation of our Faith. Please come back soon to learn more about our community.
The Elmo Pact Code of Conduct
“In flame, in silence, in loyalty, we endure.”
The Elmo Pact is more than a name. It is an oath, a banner flown in the lawless dark, and a promise between spacers who choose to operate with honor in a hostile galaxy. As members of this crew, we uphold the legacy of Saint Elmo by living with resilience, discipline, and respect—both in-game and out.
This code is sacred. Violation may result in suspension, exile, or deletion from Pact records.
I. Brotherhood Before Bloodlust
“We are not thugs. We are not killers. We are the balance.”
No griefing or harassment. We hunt targets, not players for sport. PvP is for mission, roleplay, or mutual engagement—not bullying.
No spawn camping or excessive corpse looting. Show the restraint of a true hunter.
Always verify bounties and contracts. Respect the boundaries of allied factions or neutral players unless provoked or contracted otherwise.
II. Honor in Every Port
“Every shipment we deliver is a promise kept.”
No scamming, exploiting, or cheating. This includes use of third-party tools, duping, or bugs to gain advantage.
Follow the laws of servers, games, or platforms. We are guests in the galaxy, not gods.
In trade and diplomacy, deal fairly and clearly. Honor agreements made, unless the mission calls for deception—and even then, tread carefully.
III. Respect the Crew
“Our unity is our armor. In the void, trust is bled for.”
Treat fellow players with decency, on and off comms. No hate speech, discrimination, or personal attacks will be tolerated.
Keep comms clear during ops. Speak with purpose. Listen with respect. We are professionals, even in chaos.
Support your squadmates. If a crew member is in trouble, you assist or extract. We do not abandon our own unless mission-critical.
IV. In Character, In Context
“We are pilgrims of flame. We act with purpose.”
Roleplay is encouraged, never enforced. But when in-character, keep it immersive. Don’t break the moment unless necessary.
Keep IC and OOC separate. If conflict arises, step out of character to handle it maturely.
Use designated channels for IC vs OOC chat. Respect immersion.
V. Leave the Black Better Than You Found It
“Saint Elmo guides us through the darkest systems—and the darkest choices.”
Mentor new players when able. We were all lost spacers once.
Represent the Pact with pride. Whether alone or in a fleet, your actions echo back to the crew.
Give credit where it’s due. Whether building, planning, or executing, we honor each other’s work.
VI. Command and Chain
“We swear fealty not to a CEO, but to legacy.”
Respect mission leaders during ops. When orders are given, follow them. Debate after debrief.
Report serious issues or violations to command quietly and respectfully. Public shaming is not our way.
Leadership serves the crew, not the ego. Positions of command are based on trust, experience, and behavior.
VII. The Pact Is the Pact
“Bring it home. Or don’t come back.”
You wear the brand, you wear the weight. This crew stands on the back of sacrifice and grit.
Violations will be met with discipline. Warnings, kicks, bans, or trials—depending on severity.
Reputation is everything. What we do out here is remembered. Let them remember us well.
Final Note
We are real people behind the suits and ships. This is a game—but the way we play it defines the kind of crew we are. Whether you’re in for the RP, the PVP, the trade runs, or the lore, the Pact welcomes you. But remember: you fly with us, you fly with fire. Keep it clean. Keep it sharp. Keep it loyal.
Signed,
Space Monkey
Under the windlass, with honor.
