Humble Beginnings

2943 After having served faithfully in the refineries of Hurston Dynamics for more than a decade, Stephen Knight inherited a dilapidated Aegis Avenger from a distant relative. Ship ownership opened up a wealth of opportunities previously unobtainable to a person of such humble means. With his meager savings he was able to rehabilitate the old ship to a level that could minimally be considered servicable. On his occasional days off he familiarized himself withthe various systems and controls of the ship, eventually taking on local courier jobs. Not only as a way to practice flying in and out of varied locations but also as a means of securing funds with which to purchase fuel and used parts.

Disaster Strikes

2945 Two years after taking ownership of the Avenger, Stephen resigned his position with HD and committed to delivering goods full time. The pay was good and he was getting to see places he had previously never dreamed would be possible. While delivering much needed food supplies to an outpost on Yela, Stephen fell victim to a band of pirates. They took everything. Because he had been compliant they spared his life but, he was shaken to his core. He determined that he would never again fall victim to outlaws because he was defenseless. His knew that his ship had been retired from military service and should have the required infrastructure to accomodate weapons. Alas, even second hand weapons werew beyond his financial reach.

While lying in his bunk watching reruns of “Way Back Galactic” he had an epiphany. Fifty years prior, Drake Interplanetary had cobbled together a ship to aid in the recovery of the Empire Slipper. Stephen coldn’t afford to buy a salvage ship but, if he could locate a derelict ship, he might be able to recover weapons from it to arm himself. With this in mind, he set out to locate these wrecks. He knew it was a risky undertaking but, so was traveling the stars unarmed. Over the next months he located many ships. Almost none still had their weapons systems intact. Hoping to recoup his investment, he collected the components he was able: powerplants, shield generators, life support systems…, anything he thought could be sold. This was the unintended beginning of his salvage and recovery career.

Out of Adversity comes Success

2949 Discovering how lucrative recovery operations could be, Stephen invested himself into his newfound passion. The following year he was able to trade up to a dedicated salvaging vessel and by the end of the decade had established himself as a reliable source of quality parts and materials. So much so that he caught the attention of both his previous employer and the UEEN. Expansion into raw materials handling proved to be a wise decision as well, giving him the edge when it came time to bid for contracts.

2953 By 2953, Stephen had reached his physical limits. He decided that it was time to incorporate. He had named his first salvage ship “Condor” after a large scavenger bird native to Terra. Condors consumed dead things, and in a way, life came out of death and decay. He thought it a fitting description for a vessel dedicated to retrieving dead ships and by recycling their materials, giving them new life. So, with this in mind, he named his new company.

Today

Following a period of unprecedented growth, Condor Industrial Materials Corporation continues to provide the ‘verse with quality materials and components. Between mankind’s inexorable expansion through the universe and conflicts involving outlaw systems or hostile alien species; There will always be a need for proud men and women with the courage and grit to brave hazardous environments in order to retrieve the items and raw materials necessary to fuel that expansion.
