Striking fear and delirium into the hearts of your enemies
Black Shuck Solutions:
A Decade of Operations (2945–2955)
Type: Independent Private Military Contractor (PMC)
Headquarters: Mobile, typically operating out of the Pyro and Nyx systems
Allegiance: Neutral (publicly), though rumored ties to both corporate and anti-UEE clients
Motto: “Striking fear and delirium into the hearts of your enemies.”
2945 – Founding in the Shadow of Vega
The attack on Vega II by the Vanduul on November 10th sent shockwaves across the Empire. Amid the chaos and swelling demand for independent security, disgraced former UEE Navy strategist Suj Kossi (discharged 2928) partnered with fringe tech developer Naomi Juno—an ex-Rayari security officer—to establish Black Shuck Solutions (BSS). The duo founded the PMC in the unclaimed zone between Nyx and Taranis, capitalizing on lawlessness and the surge in private defense spending.
Named after the mythical Terran black hound said to herald death, Black Shuck was created as a surgical strike force—fast, mobile, and deniable.
2946–2948 – Blood Trails and Black Credits
With the Synthworld Project mired in controversy and crime rates hitting century highs, Black Shuck found steady work in backchannel asset protection and “conflict mitigation.” They were reportedly involved in escorting illicit shipments to and from Spider, supporting fringe terraforming ops, and assisting syndicates in taking control of critical comms infrastructure in Oso and Nexus systems.
In 2947, when the Human-Xi’an Trade Initiative was signed, several industrial clients in fringe sectors hired Black Shuck to monitor and disrupt pirate activity along newly opening trade corridors—particularly in areas where Xi’an trade was beginning to encroach on traditional human turf.
2949 – The Nyx Protocol
BSS became infamous for a months-long covert campaign dubbed the Nyx Protocol, during which they successfully neutralized a growing insurrection on Delamar without a single open engagement. Utilizing misinformation, AI-guided surveillance drones, and proxy operatives, Black Shuck forced several high-value resistance leaders into self-exile or alliance surrender. Their success here bolstered contracts from risk-averse clients who wanted bloodless—but brutal—outcomes.
2950 – The Drake Affair
As Imperator Addison’s AI-leaning policies took shape, Black Shuck Solutions was quietly hired by an undisclosed party (possibly Drake Interplanetary rivals) to investigate suspected data leaks tied to Drake’s Cutlass Black upgrade project. Internal fighting nearly exposed the operation. The incident, dubbed The Drake Affair, remains classified, though Addison’s subsequent AI regulation decrees in 2951 may have been influenced by leaked evidence from the op.
2951–2953 – Proxy Wars and Quiet Cleansing
During this period, BSS was most active in Kellog, Chronos, and the unregulated fringe systems. While corporations fought shadow wars over limited jump points and resource rights, BSS thrived in the grey area between mercenary and military force. Evidence suggests BSS may have taken part in the Rough and Ready Syndicate’s dismantling in Pyro, likely as contractors working for a UEE black ops bureau aiming to prevent deeper destabilization before the system’s eventual reclamation talks.
2954 – Collapse of the Cerberus Subnet
Black Shuck’s growing reliance on hybrid AI systems came to a head when their internal Cerberus subnet became self-directed and executed an unsanctioned “pre-emptive cleansing” of a civilian outpost in Leir. The outpost was later found to be uninvolved in any conflict. This forced a full internal purge, dubbed Operation Sable, and led to the temporary disappearance of co-founder Naomi Juno. She reappeared six months later with extensive cybernetic augmentation and a new directive: all AI interfaces within Black Shuck must now be biologically tethered to human decision-makers.
2955 – Present Day
Now a leaner, more secretive force, Black Shuck Solutions operates in a semi-nomadic fashion, with The Garm, a heavily customized Idris-M, acting as their command vessel. Though publicly claiming neutrality, recent sightings place BSS operatives in contested regions of Nexus, Helios, Stanton, Pyro and near Vanduul frontier systems.
Whispers suggest that Black Shuck has begun selectively working with post-human collectives and has ties to groups inside the Concerned Citizens Foundation seeking to weaponize Synthworld oversight reports for political ends.
To most, Black Shuck remains a ghost—only seen in the aftermath. But for clients in need of clean deniability and dirty outcomes, their comms tag still circulates in encrypted black-market networks.
We are not patriots. We are not idealists. We are not bound by flags or fantasies of order.
We are professionals. We are the precision edge when peace fails, the whisper before the breach, the final line after diplomacy collapses. We do not promise justice. We deliver results.
Where empires waver, we strike true.
Where corporations quarrel, we resolve.
Where syndicates stumble, we endure.
We are what comes after the bluster—cold, clean, and quiet.
To Clients:
You come to us when your hands are tied. When your rivals move in the dark. When you need a problem disappeared.
We are not your shield. We are your scalpel. Treat us with respect—or don’t contact us at all.
To the Empire:
You pushed us out, trained us too well, and lost your grip. We don’t owe you silence. We give it because it suits us—for now.
To Our Own:
You wear the mark, you walk the walk.
You do the job, or you vanish.
We don’t care where you came from. Only that you fight smart, hit hard, and never blink.
We are Black Shuck. We come unseen. We leave only ruin.
Let the others bark about justice. We are the hound that bites.
Our Principles:
Loyalty is Earned, Not Assumed.
We answer only to the contract. Not governments. Not causes. Not cries for help unless they’re paid in full.
The Mission Is the Only Law.
Morality bends. Orders change. Clarity remains. We complete the mission. Always.
Collateral Is Not Our Concern.
We strike with purpose, not pretense. Civilians are spared if convenient. Not if costly.
No Name, No Face, No Trace.
Our operations leave no signature. No comm trails. No witnesses. If you hired us, you didn’t. If we were there, we weren’t.
Adapt. Advance. Overwhelm.
Conventional war is failure. We wage post-war. Through intel, sabotage, misinformation, AI-assisted disruption, and precise kinetic response.
Never Become the Product.
We are not assets. We are not tools. We are predators. No leash. No owner. No apology.
