Welcome to the 222nd Fighter squadron, KEELHAULERS. We specialize in fleet defense and high stakes anti-pirate combat operations.

We are looking for dedicated combat, exploration, and logistics pilots to grow our capacity to create a safer ‘verse.

History

“Keelhauling: To punish (someone) by dragging them through the water under the keel of a ship, either across the width or from bow to stern. A common execution for captured pirates or mutineers”

Though we are a private military force, we owe our allegiance and heritage to the citizens of the UEE. The 222nd owes it’s century old lineage and namesake from a squadron based on many carriers over the years, but most famously the UEEN BARRACUDA Bengal class carrier of the 3rd expeditionary fleet. This carrier was famously involved in a number of prolonged raids on outlaw sectors of fringe space. During the battle of [REDACTED] the BARRACUDA and her small escort fleet was subject to coordinated ambush by [REDACTED], forcing the squadron to take heavy losses to enable the carrier to attempt escape. Though efforts to save the carrier failed, much of the crew was able to evacuate under protection of fighters of the 222nd. The battle was considered a complete loss save for the steadfast efforts and sacrifice of the pilots. Those of the 222nd that survived the battle found themselves without much of the ace pilots and command staff and the squadron was eventually disbanded following UEEN fleet restructuring in outlaw space. 13 years later, a then young officer that survived the battle of [REDACTED] sought out old members and began talks to reform the 222nd. UEEN navy command had shifted priorities and seen many pilots into early retirement as the Empire saw a wave of relative peace and economic growth. The talks to reform the 222nd eventually shifted to creation of a dedicated private military squadron that could protect the corporate and military interests of the Empire. For years the 222nd has now existed as a renowned unit capable of dealing with threats across the vast frontier.

Manifesto

Owed to our storied history, our mission is to protect the commercial and military operations of the empire and it’s citizens. We hold ourselves to a high standard of professional conduct and expect to continue the traditions of those pilots who have come before us. Alongside our elite combat pilots, we have among us those who have mastered space exploration and logistics. We believe the greatest feat of a pilot is to able to raise up the next generation. We take training seriously and accept even entry level pilots into a variety of roles.

Should you be accepted into our ranks, know that you will be considered an equal among all brothers and sisters.
Together, we will stand against the tide. “Contra Aestus”
