Guide to new event "Save Stanton" Phase 1, stage 1 "Cargo Recovery" and stage 2 "Assist Attacked Haulers"

Save Stanton is an event with more phases, and these phases sometimes have stages within. This guide is focused on the first phase, which has stage 1 called "Cargo Recovery", and stage 2 called "Assist Attacked Haulers".

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

If you are an experienced player, be aware I tried to go into detail in things you might already know, just to help out new players or returning players who might not be familiar with the mechanics involved, so please be patient!

/

I suggest accepting the contracts for these two stages of phase 1 separately if you are a new player, to repair your ship in between the two battles if needed. If you are experienced/comfortable with basic space combat, feel free to accept both at once and do them in one go.

/

STAGE 1 - "Cargo Recovery"

For new players, please note this mission will only appear when the event is active. CIG will let you know when it is. To access the mission, you can open your mobiglass with F1, go to the Contracts tab, and on the left click on "Priority", then select "Save Stanton: Cargo Recovery".

/

Solo friendly?

Yes.

/

Difficulty?

Challenging but certainly not beyond what a new player can accomplish with a basic understanding of ship controls in combat.

/

Time?

About 30 minutes.

/

Summary of mission?

You fly to location, kill a horde of about 10-15 small ships and 2-3 medium ships, recover lost cargo from an incapacitated ship, deliver said cargo to a different location.

/

Bonus?

Chance to earn extra UEC by looting enemy medium ships. In my playthrough, they were filled with valuable drugs (weevil eggs). This is not part of the mission objectives, and is completely optional. I strongly suggest new players avoid this, as it will likely involve PVP combat and experience.

/

WHAT DO YOU NEED:

Ships:

I strongly suggest a medium or large ship for this mission. You can try attempt it with some friends in smaller ships, but you will need cargo space (give or take 30 scu, but more is better as explained later). There is spaceship combat involved, and even though it is not hard to do solo, it is challenging, especially for inexperienced players (you will fight a horde of about 10 small ships and 1-2 freelancers or 400i), all at once. If you do not own one of the following ships, I suggest renting one from the terminals at every one of the four major landing zone spaceports.

Constellation Taurus, Andromeda or Phoeni Freelancer, Freelancer Max, Freelancer Mis Cutlass Black Corsair Zeus CL, Zeus ES Crsuader C1 Retaliator w/ cargo module 400i, 600i Starlancer Max (not available at the writing of this guide but likely available when the event goes live)

/

Gear:

Bring a space suit, a rifle or gun with ammo, and a Maxlift tractor beam:

Space suit - You will go EVA. As such, don't forget your helmet! Rifle or gun - No there is no FPS combat, but to open the rear door of the incapacitated ship (more on this later), you need to shoot it with a couple of mags to open it. Tractor beam - Buy a Maxlift tractor beam at a Cargo Center, which are located in most space stations. https://finder.cstone.space/FPSTools1/27adea05-f94d-4439-872d-b043a631c34f Drinks - You might get thirsty, so put a couple of Lux Cruz in your backpack.

/

STEPS:

Accept mission, fly to location.

/

1 - KILL THE ENEMY NPC SHIPS. Upon arriving at location kill all the enemy ships. If you wish to loot them, make sure to make them go boom once only so their hulls can be looted. If they go boom twice you lose the loot. Medium ships in particular will have drugs and minerals such as gold. / You will notice that among the chaos there is one ship that is marked by the objective (unlike the enemy ships marked red, this one is marked white). This is not an enemy, do not shoot it, as you are meant to recover its cargo after the fight. / For new players, I suggest focusing on the small ships first, due to their ability to overwhelm with numbers, so take em out one by one, and then kill the medium ships at the end since they are slower.

/

2 - RECOVER THE LOST CARGO. Once the fight is over, head to the ship marked by the objective as having the cargo you need to recover, try to get as close as possible without hitting it. Exit your ship into EVA holding your rifle or gun.

/

Approach the rear exit ramp of the ship, shoot it with a couple of mags from your rifle or gun until you see the ramp open.

/

Enter inventory with "I" and put your rifle back in your backpack slot, then drag your Maxlift tractor beam onto your hand. Now grab every container in this ship and place it into the cargo grid of your ship. There should be around 10 containers, containing random materials such as Aluminium, Titanium, Copper, etc.

/

2a - OPTIONAL STEP LOOT DRUGS ---NEW PLAYERS SKIP THIS STEP - ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED PLAYERS (if you are new, I suggest skipping this step since this step involves high risk and is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL - you don't get penalized whatsoever for skipping this as it is not even part of the mission objectives) - So... If you soft deathed any enemy medium ships, scan them, as they likely contain valuable drugs. Loot em, put em in your cargo, sell them at the Salvage spots at your own risk since no doubt, this event will attract pvp pirates looking to shoot you down on arrival to these hotspots. Alternatively, you might opt to put them in your personal freight elevator and wait for the event to end to sell them later.---

/

3 - DELIVER THE RECOVERED CARGO. Now that you loaded all the missing cargo onto your ship from the objective ship, your HUD should show a notification that you have recovered all the lost cargo. Get back in your ship pilot seat. You should see a new objective location pop up for you indicating where to drop off the cargo you recovered. Quantum travel there.

/

When you arrive, call Landing Services, land in your designated hangar, and exit your ship. Open your cargo hold and grab your tractor beam, unload the recovered containers out of your ship and into the Freight Elevator, which if you are not familiar with, is on one or two of the walls of your hangar. Make sure each container sticks to the grid (shows like a blue container before placing the containers).

/

Once all the cargo is in the Freight Elevator, go to the terminal next to it, and click on the bottom left arrow for the elevator to go down. You will then be prompted with a pop up on the screen noting the containers being "contract orders", just click accept and let it go. Congrats you're done with this event's first phase, "Cargo Recovery".

/

If you have any questions I will try to answer them in the comments.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

STAGE 2 - "Assist Attacked Haulers"

/

---tldr; Same thing as the First Phase, just no cargo retrieval is required (but I do encourage looting your victims if you are experienced to sell those drugs)---

/

Solo friendly?

Yes.

/

Difficulty?

Challenging but certainly not beyond what a new player can accomplish with a basic understanding of ship controls in combat.

/

Time?

About 10 minutes.

/

WHAT DO YOU NEED:

Ships:

Just about any fighter will do in the hands of a player comfortable with space combat controls. For looting drugs through, you will need some cargo space, about 10-20 scu max. If you are a new player, any of the ships I suggested for phase 1 will do fine.

/

Gear:

Spacesuit if you choose to loot downed enemy ships, otherwise, go naked and free if you want. Just don't get out of your cockpit.

/

If you decide to loot downed enemy ships:

Bring a space suit, a rifle or gun with ammo, and a Maxlift tractor beam:

Space suit - You will go EVA. As such, don't forget your helmet! /

STEPS:

1 - KILL THE SHIPS. Accept mission, fly to location, kill the ships. Don't shoot the ship marked by the objective that you are meant to "protect". Done. That's it, that's the phase.

/

1a - You beat phase 2. If you decide to loot for drugs, well, you probably know already what to do. If you are new and want some safe extra money, loot the valuable minerals such as gold and sell them at your landing location of choice.

/

Thanks for reading this guide, let me know if you have any questions or would like to add commentary down in the comments. I will try to add guides for the following phases as I test them in PTU. See you in the verse!
