Post Traumatic Sloppy Seconds

History

Starting as the half-assed toss together faction with no real original direction, we began to notice other factions taking up the gates and hangars a little too long on some occasions; violently guarding the only available trade routs and killing off anyone who dare put themselves anywhere near their gate keeping efforts. Now we do our thing until anyone makes an attempt to get in the way of the free market, or hold down entire stations, making it impossible for the little guy to do their own thing.

Manifesto

As a collection of free engines, we put in our part to maintain the open and free market with opportunity to all in a fair and equal disposition. We strive to build ourselves up so when the need arrives, we are able to aid and clear the way for individual traders who might be squashed or hindered otherwise by larger, greedy corporations!

We have each spent our own time as free engines and individuals, and seeing the sanctity of the free market walked on like an old rug doesn’t bode well for anyone, especially the opportunity of smaller, individual tradesmen. We see the ability to fly as much any man’s right, and whatever that man can carry, he should have the right to trade.

This is not, however to give a false sense of security. Involuntary trade may be necessary at times to ensure success.

Charter

As collections of free engines, we each live by our own standard. However, to be a part of this organization and wear our badge, each member must conduct themselves in a manner befitting a gentleman or lady.

Standards
  1. Respect. Each person you come across shall be given the same amount of respect as any other upon first meeting. Whether they earn to keep or increase that respect from a proper, healthy baseline, is then up to them.
  2. Help. New players, younger players, or less inclined players are all over. While we won’t ask you to go out of your way, don’t shy away from at least answering basic questions for our fellow spacers.
  3. Respond. If there is an obvious need or blatant disrespect being given by a problem flyer, where the ability to travel and trade is hindered. Help correct them. If they do not respond to your hails, defend those who might fall under their harassment if you can.
  4. Priorities. This is not a real life job. This is a game. We will not be micromanaging what anyone does as long as you’re good, kind-hearted people.

Sometimes operating in a large space filled with unpredictable people and sometimes unpredictable Orgs means push comes to shove. While pirating is technically discouraged as a “Yardy har” lifestyle, it is a necessary method of asset acquisition and ensuring enemy Orgs or actual “yardy har” pirates stay in check.

To ensure we operate with a higher moral standard than the more reckless levels of thieves, we have the following set of protocols for theft and piracy.

The Robinhood Protocol

Allowance:
  1. Association. It is acceptable to steal from smaller targets if they are actively representing/are backed by a sufficiently sized Org.
  2. Ransom. Individuals may be held for ransom for a reasonable period of time. If ransom is not met, they must forfeit their belongings to be released.
  3. Marooning. Leaving someone on a planet or alone in space is permissible as they can activate a distress signal. Leave them somewhere which oxygen is available if possible.
Restrictions:
  1. Faction. Never steal from allied factions unless they break treaty first.
  2. Location. Avoid stealing in zones which cause more trouble than worth/give you a crime stat by default.
  3. Singular. Never harass a single target continuously. Let them go after business is concluded.
  4. Scale. Never steal from anyone who can not afford it. If they are just doing missions that get them by, let them fly.
  5. Reason. If stealing from a lone pilot who is not backed by an Org and has no known history of themselves being a pirate, leave them with up to 15-25% of their cargo so they are not simply left with nothing.
  6. Life. No senseless executions. You may use any level of force to defend yourself and conduct your business, and may kill enemy targets, but if they surrender to you, operate on “Catch and Release.”
