The Nighty Knight Union is a laid back, 18+, and LGBTQ+ friendly org who welcomes anyone who wants to join us in socializing while playing Star Citizen.

Our recruitment is closed for now.

History

Nighty Knight Union (NKU) is a union of anti-corporate individuals who banded together after being fed up with the worker subjugation imposed by the corporations let loose by an irresponsible UEE. If you wanna get one over on ArcCorp, Eckhart, MicroTech, or any of the Corporate overlords who keep their boot over Stanton’s throat, you may just fit right in. That doesn’t necessarily mean violence, however. And it also doesn’t mean you can’t work a job for them, money doesn’t come easy, and it’s important to recognize the conditions we live under.

We take their money, and succeed in spite of them. Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that’s why we steal drugs on company time.

We are a rainbow flag of mercenaries, industrialists, pirates, criminals, bounty hunters, and we don’t shy away from a fight. If you decide to join, we ask you to be willing to engage in our community, have fun, but also lock in when needed.

NKU FAQ

  • Do you have to be LGBTQ+ to join? Nope! But you are expected to be cool with those who are.
  • Our vibe? Silly (and a bit unhinged), serious when we need to get stuff done.
  • Size? Small. At most 75 members, but we prioritize activity over numbers.
  • Time commitment? Taking a break for a patch or two? All good. Just hang out with us in Discord here and there. Not gonna play for longer than that? Yeah, you might get booted if you don’t at least interact with us in Discord. We want to keep things lively and lurking long term doesn’t contribute to that. Can always join back once you find the time.
  • What loops? All of them, though we tend to focus more on combat since that’s where more of the fun is. PvP is something we don’t shy away from either, be it on the ground or in space.
  • Beginner friendly? We like to think we are. We will teach you what we can and help you get on your feet as long as you’re ready to engage with the game and earn your own credits.
  • Fun fact: Number one killer of NKU members is ADHD-induced accidents during periods of boredom

Manifesto

FIGHT THE SYSTEM, NOT THE PEOPLE

We stand against the irresponsible UEE, and the corporate goliaths that watch over us, and sell us back our rights with a price. The Messer era may have ended, but the oppression simply changed form. Now, most actions that give you a low crime stat simply cost money, if the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the lower class. They make us toil away in their mines if we can’t pay a simple fine. Space age slavery…

  • The only reason regeneration is free is that you can come right back, and keep earning them money.
  • A place like Loreville is a literal hellscape, where Hurston Dynamics forces their workers to fight against the windstorms rather than construct a closed hallway.
  • ArcCorp refuses to invest in worker safety. How many lives have been claimed by faulty elevators? How many people have been trapped in the hospitals when the elevators failed to arrive? Why are there no emergency stairs? Why are we forced to gamble our lives with these death traps?
  • microTech forces their workers to crunch out poor, buggy routing systems, causing ships to careen into the star of Stanton.
  • And who could forget what Crusader did to Port Olisar? Selling it for scrap and laying off the station staff just so R&R could move in with its cheap, modular stations.

We will lead civil rights activities for citizens, protest unjust actions by the corporations of Stanton, and ensure the liberties many fought for during the Messer era are not encroached on anymore.

We won’t rest until the ‘Verse is a fair place for everyone.

SOCIALIZE. ORGANIZE. UNIONIZE

SO WHAT DOES NKU DO IN STAR CITIZEN?

Bounty Hunting

Some crimes are forgivable, but some are not: Pirates attacking the independent merchant, terrorists killing innocent civilians, and dirty corporate enforcers unlawfully scanning you inside your hangar for a shakedown deserve to be hunted down.

Mercenary Work

Look, we need to sustain ourselves somehow, even if that means taking jobs for the corps. We don’t look down on those who do. Play the system, but be ready to stand up for your rights if they try to weasel their way out of a payment.

Industry Professions

In order to sustain our independence, we embark on various industrial professions, such as salvaging and mining. In the future, we plan to use the resources we gather to establish our own, independent compound free from the oppressive corps.

Cargo Hauling

A core profession of any star system. Moving goods is vital for the health of the people to make sure they get what they need.

Search and Rescue

We all need to look out for each other. Extend a helping hand to those in need of rescue, be it in space or on the ground. Or if you simply need a tow back to the station after your power plant sputtered out because nobody makes quality components anymore. We have your back.

And more!

The main goal is to have fun in the game. We like to mix our time playing the game and pushing the limits of what Star Citizen has to offer. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, feel free to bring them up!

What about Piracy and Crime?

Crime Stats: If you get a Crime Stat 3 or above, make sure to clear it before meeting up with non-criminal/lawful members (or at the least inform them of your CS!). You don’t want any bounty hunters crashing the party ;)

Piracy: No limits on piracy, as long as what you do does not fall under griefing (see below). Kill, plunder, and steal as long as it s NOT your own org mates.

WHAT WE DON’T DO: GRIEFING

Griefing has been thrown around the SC community around a lot. We constitute griefing as things not allowed by CIG’s Terms of Service. Do not engage in ToS Violations. Killing innocent people inside stations, blocking elevators with crates, or using exploits in ways that harm other players outside the spirit of the game and ToS is forbidden. If someone goes what we think is too far, we will either give a warning or just instant boot from the org. Case by case.

Charter

We do not tolerate intolerance

If a rainbow flag sends shivers down your spine, this Union isn’t for cowards like you.

If the thought of pronouns gets your blood boiling, this Union isn’t for weirdos like you.

If you’re a fascist bootlicker, this Union isn’t for sheep like you.

We are a diverse group of people and being part of our organization means having to coexist with different people. Seriously, we just want to have fun.

Not sure how someone prefers to be called or identified? Feel free to ask! We won’t bite if you approach with an open mind.

FURTHER RULES:

  1. Be kind and respectful. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  2. Do not harass or insult others. Again, no racism, bigotry, homophobia, etc.
  3. Joining the Discord is required if you want to participate. We do all our communication and planning there, so if you can’t join, it makes it very difficult to play with other members.
  4. 18+ only due to topics discussed and memes posted
  5. Swearing is fine (we’re adults after all), but don’t go overboard. Slurs or derogatory comments will NEVER be tolerated
  6. No personal attacks against other members or players.
  7. Be helpful to other members as well as other players.
  8. No personal attacks against anyone, as well as incitation or implications of violence, harassment, or any form of negative action towards another person/party.
  9. Politics: Despite the political theming of this group, it’s not the main focus. The main focus is to vibe and hang out with like-minded people while enjoying the game. Avoid discussing political matters. If you have any concerns about this, feel free to reach out to our leadership.
  10. 8: No griefing: This means follow CIGs TOS aka no padramming or using glitches/abusing bugs to kill people. As CIG says:
Stream sniping, pad ramming, firing into armistice zones, or utilizing various exploits to grief others… these are just a few examples of excessive griefing, which we do not tolerate. Source
If it’s bannable by CIG, its sure as hell bannable here.

For other player interactions, we don’t want to restrict people too much as every situation and playstyle is unique. The overall goal of this org is to have fun and share that fun with other org and non-org members through Star Citizen. However, this sometimes means we will need to kill to preserve an operation, eliminate potential spies, or just killing to steal loot. As the game progresses, we might finally get reputational reasons not to pull the trigger, but for now, it is shoot first, ask questions later (though we encourage peaceful solutions when possible). We can collectively decide what we think where the line between legitimate PVP becomes griefing as a group.

Ultimately, it will be up to the admins to treat each incident on a case by case basis and we hope you can trust our judgment on that.

This also extends to interactions with other org members. We all mess around and have fun, but if someone tells you to stop, YOU STOP. Bring it up to the org staff so we can discuss it and figure out a resolution. We all want to have fun together after all.

Consequences for Breaking Org Rules

  • Breaking any of these rules will net you AT MOST ONE warning. If you fail to heed this warning, you will be removed from the org
  • Racism/bigotry/ablism does NOT get a warning and is an instant ban
  • User bans will be decided by discussion and unanimous vote amongst org staff.
  • Org staff will do their utmost to apply the rules we lay out, but ultimately, we may have to make calls for the health of the org. Again, we hope you trust us to make the correct call

We’d like to think our rules are fair and reasonable such that you shouldn’t need more than one warning.

In short: Be civil, be kind, and have fun. Respect your fellow human

If someone happens to do or say something that violates these rules, the org leaders will investigate the issue. Members who are found violating the above rules will be immediately removed from the group and banned from joining back. All other issues will be voted on by other senior members to determine the best course of action.
