Welcome to Galaxy’s Cadets!
We’re a friendly and casual community of Star Citizen players who just love the game. We’re not about strict ranks, mandatory ops, or hardcore roleplay. We’re about logging on, hanging out, and making our own adventures in the ‘verse.

History

The Long Drift: A History of the Galaxy’s Cadets

The “Galaxy’s Cadets” were never meant to be a permanent organization. The name, now a badge of honor, began as a half-joking title for the junior pilots and trainees of a now-defunct corporate logistics wing based out of ArcCorp. We were the rookies, the greenhorns, the “cadets” sent on milk runs and tedious cargo scans while the “vets” handled the high-profit routes.

Our old life ended not with a bang, but with a quiet ledger entry. When the parent corporation was bought out and restructured, our entire division—and its modest fleet of Freelancers, Cutlasses, and a single aging Caterpillar—was deemed “redundant.” Our contracts were terminated, our habs were reassigned, and we were left docked at Area18 with a final paycheck and a choice: find a new master or find our own way.

We chose the ‘verse.

Led by our former flight instructor, an old spacer who only ever went by “Props,” we pooled our severance, bought our service ships outright from the corporate auction, and undocked for the last time. We were adrift, a tiny fleet with no credentials and no home. In that first jump, someone cracked over the comms, “Well, I guess the Galaxy’s Cadets are officially on their own.” The name stuck.

For the first year, we were true nomads, living hand-to-mouth. We took any job, no matter how small. We hauled scrap from asteroid fields, delivered medical supplies to backwater outposts, and provided light escort for prospectors too poor to afford a real PMC. We slept in our ships’ bunks, cooked in the galleys, and learned to patch our own hulls. We weren’t just pilots anymore; we were engineers, medics, and negotiators. We were a family.

Our nomadic life shaped our identity. We have no central base, no headquarters to defend. Our home is our fleet, a constantly moving collection of ships that we call “The Long Drift.” We answer to no one but each other. We value freedom over profit, and camaraderie over credits.

Today, the Galaxy’s Cadets are a familiar sight in the lesser-known corners of Stanton and beyond. We’re a living, breathing community on the move. We still take on new members—those who are lost, starting out, or just tired of the corporate grind. We’re still “cadets” because, in a ‘verse this vast, you never stop learning.

We are the Long Drift. We are the Galaxy’s Cadets. And we are free.

Manifesto

THE CADET’S MANIFESTO

We are the lost, the last, and the free.
We are the echoes of a corporate memo, the “redundancy” that refused to fade.
We are the pilots who chose the void over the cubicle, the journey over the destination.

We are the Galaxy’s Cadets.

They taught us to fly, but we taught ourselves to be free. They gave us ships to serve their bottom line, so we took those ships to find our own horizon.

WE REJECT:

The chains of a 9-to-5 on a planet we despise.
The tyranny of the ledger book and the quarterly report.
The idea that a life must be “productive” to be valuable.
The borders on a map, the tolls at a jump gate, and the masters who demand we kneel.

WE BELIEVE:

That freedom isn’t a privilege, it’s a-U…an inalienable right, earned by the fuel we burn and the risks we take.
That a home is not a patch of dirt, but a fleet of trusted friends moving as one.
That family is not the blood you’re born with, but the crew who answers your distress call.
That we are all “Cadets,” because the ‘verse is the only teacher that matters, and its lessons are infinite.

OUR WAY:

We are the Long Drift. We move. We adapt. We survive. We own nothing, and so we are never owned. We carry our homes on our backs and our hope in our hearts. We take the jobs others won’t, see the sights others don’t, and live the life others can only dream of.

OUR PROMISE:

We offer no riches. We promise no glory. We guarantee no safety.
We offer something real: A bunk to sleep in, a plate to eat from, and a hand to lift you up. We offer a voice in your own destiny. We offer a place where you are measured not by your bank account, but by your character and your willingness to learn.

We are the Galaxy’s Cadets.
And we are always recruiting.

Charter

CHARTER OF THE GALAXY’S CADETS

Preamble

We, the members of the Galaxy’s Cadets, having chosen the ‘verse over servitude and the stars as our home, do establish this charter. We are a nomadic family, bound not by corporate contracts but by mutual respect, a shared love of freedom, and the endless pursuit of knowledge. Our fleet is our home, our crew is our family, and our path is our own.

Article I: Name and Identity

Organization: The official name of this organization shall be the “Galaxy’s Cadets.”

Fleet: Our collective and nomadic home is known as “The Long Drift.”

Identity: We are a free, independent, and nomadic community. We answer to no outside corporation, government, or power.

Article II: Mission and Values

Our Mission: To live free in the ‘verse, to support one another as a family, to explore the unknown, and to provide a safe harbor for all who seek a life of independence.

Our Values:

Freedom: The right of every member to choose their own path, free from coercion or tyranny.

Camaraderie: We are a family first. We protect, support, and rely on one another. A Cadet in need is never alone.

Learning: We are all “cadets” in a ‘verse that never stops teaching. We value curiosity, shared knowledge, and practical skill.

Integrity: We are self-sufficient. We honor our word, pull our own weight, and deal honestly with each other and those we choose to work with.

Article III: Membership

Open Door: Membership is open to any individual who respects our values and seeks a life with the Long Drift, regardless of their past.

No Dues: We require no tithes or membership fees. Members are expected to contribute to the fleet’s well-being through their skills, labor, or resources as they are able.

Rite of Passage: New members are considered “Rookies” until they have lived with the fleet for one full cycle (or an agreed-upon probation period) and have been vouched for by a standing member. This is not a test of skill, but of character.

Voluntary Departure: Members may leave the Long Drift at any time, with no penalty or prejudice. Their personal property is their own.

Article IV: Structure and Governance

Fleet Council: The Long Drift is governed by a “Fleet Council,” composed of the ship captain (or designated representative) from each capital-class or multi-crew vessel in the fleet. Solo pilots may elect a representative to speak for them.

The “Lead Cadet”: The Council is chaired by a “Lead Cadet,” a position of facilitation and final arbitration, not command. This role is elected by a simple majority of all members and serves until they step down or are recalled by a vote of no confidence.

One Member, One Vote: All major fleet-level decisions (e.g., new alliances, declarations of war, changes to this charter) must be put to a simple majority vote of all full members. Every Cadet has an equal voice.

No Masters: Ship captains command their own vessels, but no member may be forced to participate in an operation they disagree with. This charter guarantees the right to abstain.

Article V: Code of Conduct

The Fleet is Family: Do no harm to a fellow Cadet. Disputes are to be handled by mediation, first by peers and then by the Fleet Council.

Pull Your Weight: Contribute what you can. Do not be a drain on the family. We all work, we all eat.

The Ship is Home: Respect the property of others and the shared spaces of the fleet. A ship is a member’s home, privacy, and livelihood.

Don’t Endanger the Drift: Your actions reflect on all of us. Do not bring unwarranted trouble to the fleet. Debts to outside factions are your own, unless the fleet votes to adopt them.

Article VI: Amendment

This charter may be amended by a proposal from any member, seconded by the Fleet Council, and ratified by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of all full members of the Galaxy’s Cadets.
