The FSDA is a mutual defense treaty organization of free spacefarers. It collects no involuntary taxes or fees, gives no orders or edicts, and requires only that signatories refrain from aggressive action against other signatories and, within the bounds of reason, defend each other from aggression.
History
The Free Spacefarers’ Defense Alliance (FSDA), in response to growing galactic instability and Imperial moral perfidy, was founded in 2944. Its mission as outlined in its founding documents is to provide free spacefarers throughout the known galaxy, without discrimination, with a base of defensive support. Further, it recognizes that it, itself must and will never become a threat to its own signatories.
Manifesto
In this, by the reckoning of the human calendar year 2944, the founders of the Free Spacefarers’ Defense Alliance declare its Constitution /
Henceforth referred to as the FSDA; its affiliate organizations henceforth referred to as signatories /
The FSDA hereby declares a full policy of neutrality towards all governments, including the United Empire of Earth /
The FSDA will never under any circumstances compel, force, or demand any form of property, currency, resource or wealth from its signatories /
The FSDA will never, outside of joint FSDA fleet activities undertaken voluntarily by all parties involved, inflict orders, edicts, or regulations upon its signatories /
The FSDA core administration and fleet operations shall be undertaken and funded solely by voluntary donations of any sort /
The FSDA Charter shall apply only to full members of its core administration and fleet operations; signatories are bound only by this limited Constitution /
FSDA signatories agree that they must never engage in aggressive conduct towards another signatory under penalty of being stricken from the treaty /
The FSDA defines aggressive conduct as any trespass against person or property NOT undertaken under explicit FSDA, UEE, Xi’an, or Banu sanction regarding one or more crimes with victims; for instance, piracy, but not smuggling /
FSDA signatories agree that, within the bounds of reason, they will assist other signatories when they come under aggressive and unprovoked attack /
FSDA signatories retain all rights including the right of secession from the FSDA /
The FSDA hereby pledges that all resources of any sort contributed to its organization will be used to facilitate emergency communications between its signatories, to coordinate defensive response, to build fleets dedicated to defense of signatories (and to accumulate capital with which to expand and maintain such fleets) /
