History

Born in 2007 as a small guild in World of Warcraft, The Dark Militia learned to hold the line—escorting caravans, rescuing downed allies, and shielding the vulnerable. That ethic, courage fused with care, became our marrow.

As our circle widened it crystallized as the Nighthaven Enclave, founded by Neaura Nightsong—our parent organization and beating heart. Nighthaven’s values of respect, inclusivity, empathy, growth, integrity, creativity, self‑care, support, transparency, and fun shape every op we fly and every voice on comms.

In 2024 we carried our standard into Star Citizen, formalizing The Dark Militia as a rescue‑first, ethical‑security corps. We declared medical neutrality, adopted a defensive ROE, and made “disable over destroy” and “evidence over ego” part of our culture. Through 2024–2025 we refined training, comms discipline, and humanitarian corridors—turning “beacon in the black” from a motto into muscle memory.

Today we remain what our origins promised: we race toward distress, guard honest trade, and leave every lane safer than we found it. Our watchwords endure—Aequalitas & Iustitia in Stellis, equality and justice among the stars—and our purpose is unchanged: save lives first; be the light.

Manifesto

*We are The Dark Militia—a beacon in the black. We exist to save lives first and to stand guard where courage and compassion are required. We race toward distress calls, hold the line with principled, defensive security, and leave every lane safer than we found it.

Honor, to us, is a practice. Medical neutrality is sacred; privacy is respected; evidence over rumor; de‑escalation over ego; disable over destroy. We do not grief, exploit, or prey—we protect, escort, and uplift. Our word is our contract.

We welcome pilots of every skill and story. If you carry a steady heart and a steady hand, there is a place for you in our formation. Fly with us to turn fear into hope, darkness into guidance, and strangers into survivors. Be the light.*

Charter

THE DARK MILITIACHARTER (Adopted October 20, 2025)

Preamble
We are a beacon in the black—formed to save lives, uphold dignity, and turn fear into hope. As a sister expression of the Nighthaven Enclave, we ground our conduct in the shared values of Respect, Inclusivity, Empathy, Growth, Integrity, Creativity, Self‑Care, Support, Transparency, and Fun, and we carry those forward into every sortie and conversation.

Article I — Name, Identity, and Motto
Our name is The Dark Militia. We serve as haven and shield for the vulnerable, a corps that rose from a humble security outfit to a safe harbor with purpose. Our watchwords are Aequalitas & Iustitia in Stellis—Equality and Justice among the stars.

Article II — Mission and Scope
Our mission is threefold: rapid medical rescue, principled protection of life and honest commerce, and de‑escalation wherever possible. We answer distress beacons, escort those who ask our guard, and stand down when lives are safer for it.

Article III — Values and Conduct
We embody Nighthaven’s ethics in practice: we welcome all identities and skill levels, reject harassment and discrimination, and keep our spaces supportive and transparent. We represent the Militia with maturity in‑game and out. These expectations mirror the community standards we inherit from Nighthaven’s chartered culture.

Article IV — Membership
Membership is open to veterans and fresh‑launched pilots alike; everyone has something to contribute. Belonging is measured by participation, care for each other, and fidelity to our mission—not by ship class or killboard.

Article V — Governance
Strategic authority resides with our founders and leaders, Neaura and Winter, who may appoint officers to execute this charter. Operational command in the field is held by the designated Team Lead for the duration of a tasking, with a standing safety prerogative to halt or extract when risk exceeds mission value.

Article VI — Rules of Engagement and Medical Neutrality
We are defensive by default. We fire to protect life, fulfill contracts ethically, or break contact; we prefer disable over destroy when feasible. Medical calls are answered under declared neutrality: stabilize, extract, transport, respect client privacy. We do not grief, bait, stream‑snipe, or exploit; we do not loot clients or casualties. Evidence is recorded, not weaponized.

Article VII — Operations and Safety
Comms remain calm, brief, and confirmatory. Launch with mission‑appropriate fits; leaders may deny undisciplined or unsafe deployments. When doubt clouds the lane, we choose life and exit. After each major action, we complete a clear‑eyed debrief to learn and improve.

Article VIII — Finance and Logistics
We fly what we can afford to lose; reimbursements and materiel support are adjudicated case‑by‑case upon evidence. Humanitarian sorties may be flown pro bono. Transparency in allocations honors both our pilots and our principles.

Article IX — Community Integration
The Militia is an outpost of Nighthaven’s wider constellation. We carry its tone, uphold its culture, and reflect its warmth across channels and game spaces alike. Our welcome, like Nighthaven’s, is sincere: you are invited to belong, grow, and shine with us.

Article X — Amendments and Ratification
This charter may be amended by leadership after consultation with officers and community stakeholders. Once promulgated, the newest dated version supersedes prior texts. By flying under our banner, members accept and uphold this charter in good faith.

In spirit and in flight, we remain what Nighthaven has always been: a living promise to each other that justice can be swift, kindness steadfast, and courage contagious.
