History
The Blackrock Security Group emerged from the crucible of Humanity’s darkest hour, a direct consequence of the United Empire of Earth’s (UEE) faltering response to the escalating Vanduul threat and the pervasive corruption of the Messer regime. Founded in 2740 by former UEE Naval Commander Ser Daemon Blackfyre, Blackrock was born from a profound disillusionment with the official channels of protection.
Blackfyre, a decorated officer who witnessed firsthand the devastating Battle of Orion (2712) and the harrowing Siege of Tiber (2732-2737), grew weary of the UEE’s bureaucratic inertia and the Messer Imperators’ prioritization of political control over genuine defense. He saw the abandonment of systems like Virgil, the decimation of entire battle groups, and the rising tide of lawlessness in the outer systems as a testament to the UEE’s inability or unwillingness to protect its citizens.
Gathering a core of like-minded veterans – pilots, marines, and strategists who shared his pragmatic and often cynical view of authority – Blackfyre established Blackrock Security Group. Their initial operations were clandestine, focused on providing discreet, highly effective protection for private convoys and corporate assets in the increasingly dangerous frontier systems. While the UEE Navy was stretched thin chasing Vanduul raiders and quelling internal dissent, Blackrock filled the void, often succeeding where official forces failed to even respond. Their reputation for ruthless efficiency and unwavering commitment to their contracts quickly spread through the underbelly of the galaxy and among those who could afford their services.
With the overthrow of the Messer regime in 2792, Blackrock found itself in a new, albeit still volatile, landscape. The UEE’s subsequent restructuring and the efforts of Imperator Erin Toi and Secretary Marshall Leon to rebuild trust and diplomatic relations created new security vacuums. Blackrock capitalized on this, transitioning from a purely clandestine operation to a registered, albeit fiercely independent, Private Military Company (PMC). They took on contracts to secure declining systems like Ferron, which suffered economically after Messer XI’s false accusations (2791), and even operated on the fringes of criminal hubs like Nexus, providing protection against the very outlaws the UEE struggled to contain.
By 2951, Blackrock Security Group stands as a formidable force, a testament to the enduring need for reliable protection in a dangerous universe. While often operating in the grey areas where UEE jurisdiction wanes, they remain a preferred choice for corporations, wealthy individuals, and even desperate communities seeking a level of security and decisive action that the official UEE forces often cannot, or will not, provide. Their symbol, a stylized black flame, represents their commitment to cutting through the chaos and darkness with decisive force.

We believe:
In the Primacy of Action: Words and treaties are fleeting. Only decisive action and unyielding resolve can secure peace and prosperity. When the UEE’s political machinations fail, when their fleets are stretched thin, and when their laws offer no sanctuary, we are the bulwark.
In Unwavering Protection: Our loyalty is to our clients and the sanctity of our contracts. We do not discriminate based on creed, origin, or political affiliation. If you seek protection, and if your cause is just within the bounds of our charter, we will deliver it with every resource at our disposal.

Charter
I. Name and Purpose
Name: Blackrock Security Group (BSG)
Purpose: To provide premier, highly effective paramilitary security services, including asset protection, convoy escort, anti-piracy operations, high-risk retrieval, and tactical support for private entities, corporations, and authorized governments across the UEE and beyond. BSG operates with a commitment to order, efficiency, and the unwavering protection of its contracted interests.
II. Organizational Structure
Command: BSG operates under a hierarchical, military-inspired command structure, led by the Group Commander, supported by a Council of Strategos (senior operational leaders).
Divisions: Organized into specialized divisions:
Vanguard: Front-line combat and rapid response.
Sentinel: Asset protection and long-range escort.
Recon: Intelligence gathering, scouting, and infiltration.
Logistics: Supply, maintenance, and strategic planning.
Autonomy: While registered as a Private Military Company (PMC), BSG maintains strict operational independence, refusing political affiliations or external governmental oversight beyond standard legal compliance in contracted territories.
III. Membership
Recruitment: Open to individuals demonstrating exceptional skill, discipline, and a proven track record in combat, piloting, engineering, or intelligence. Preference is given to former UEE military personnel, particularly those with combat experience in the Vanduul Wars or anti-piracy operations.
Vetting: All prospective members undergo rigorous physical, psychological, and background checks. Loyalty to the Group and adherence to the Charter are paramount.
Training: Continuous and demanding. Members are expected to maintain peak physical and mental condition, proficiency with all assigned equipment, and adaptability to diverse operational environments.
IV. Operational Guidelines
Contractual Obligation: All operations are strictly contract-based. BSG will not engage in activities outside the scope of a signed agreement.
Rules of Engagement (ROE):
Defensive Posture: BSG forces will not initiate unprovoked aggression. Force will be used only in self-defense, in defense of contracted assets, or to achieve clearly defined mission objectives.
Proportionality: Use of force will be proportional to the threat.
Non-Combatant Protection: Every reasonable effort will be made to minimize harm to non-combatants, unless their presence directly impedes mission success or poses an immediate threat.
No Piracy/Illegal Activity: BSG will not engage in piracy, illicit smuggling, or any activities deemed illegal by established UEE law, unless explicitly contracted to operate in a legally ambiguous or lawless territory where such actions are necessary for mission success and fall within the terms of the contract.
Asset Integrity: All contracted assets, personnel, and information are to be protected at all costs.
Jurisdiction: BSG respects established UEE jurisdiction but reserves the right to operate in systems or regions where UEE presence is minimal or ineffective, provided a legitimate contract is in place.
Confidentiality: All client information and operational details are strictly confidential.
V. Financials
Compensation: Members are compensated based on rank, specialization, and mission risk. A portion of all contract fees is allocated to Group maintenance, training, and equipment upgrades.
Funding: Primarily through private contracts. BSG does not accept UEE grants or subsidies to maintain its independence.
VI. Amendments
This Charter may only be amended by a unanimous vote of the Group Commander and the Council of Strategos.
